IBI Awarded USAID/Guatemala Smart and Secure Cities Project

IBI is proud to be awarded a five-year contract to implement the USAID/Guatemala Smart and Secure Cities Project (SSCP). The purpose of this project is to improve citizen security and reduce crime and violence by empowering key stakeholders in targeted communities.

SSCP activities will address the three project Objectives:

  • Objective 1: Strengthened ability to address crime and violence through multisectoral collaboration.

  • Objective 2: Greater municipal service delivery through efficient planning, designing, and financing capacity for urban development and growth.

  • Objective 3: Enhanced research and analysis to improve data-driven violence prevention strategies.

The five-year, $47 million SSCP is awarded under the USAID Active Communities – Effective States (ACES) indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract, which is managed by USAID’s Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance (DRG) Center. We are excited to partner with USAID/Guatemala to advance its citizen security programs. This award builds upon IBI’s regional experience enhancing the capacity of local stakeholders, having implemented the Strengthening Local Organizations (SLO) project to measurably build the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) in El Salvador. IBI also brings extensive experience mobilizing communities to enhance citizen engagement, municipal governance, and municipal services.

IBI’s major subcontractor, Search for Common Ground, will contribute expertise in preventing violence and resolving conflict. In addition, IBI will work with multiple local partners to directly implement impactful, tailored solutions to the challenges of Guatemalan municipalities.

With our company motto “Global insights, Local Solutions“ as our guide, IBI has been at the forefront of building local capabilities with our partners to create sustainable solutions for a more equitable and resilient world.
