IBI’s Board of Directors selects David Wall as its new CEO
IBI’s Board of Directors has selected David Wall as its new CEO, the lead executive role at the international development consulting firm. Mr. Wall started his new position on January 1, 2020. Mr. Wall takes over this role from David Colvin, who had served as IBI President and CEO since 2013. Mr. Colvin will assume the role of Senior Advisor and President of the Board of Directors, and will remain active in the company, focusing on technical assignments and business development.
Mr. Wall, who brings more than 20 years’ experience in the international development sector, served as IBI’s Vice President for Strategy previous to assuming his new position. Prior to joining IBI, he was Senior Vice President and Director of Operations for AECOM, where he directed all facets of global project management and operations, and grew the company to a portfolio of USAID funded contracts generating $90 million in annual revenue. His experience also includes assignments with USAID in addition to other consulting firms, and he has served in long-term leadership positions on projects in Georgia, Bulgaria, Armenia and Iraq. He began his career at NASDAQ, where he supported privatization and capital market development programs in emerging markets.
“In determining who should take on this role, the current CEO and I sought someone who has technical knowledge in economic growth and governance, a large and active network of contacts in USAID and in other partner firms, and a management and communications style that fits with the corporate culture we have nurtured in IBI over the past 23 years. We find all of these attributes in David Wall and have been impressed with his performance in the role of Vice President. We are confident that David has the qualities needed to serve as CEO and grow the firm,” said Lucie Phillips, founder of IBI, a woman-owned small business based in Arlington, VA. “David understands what works in development and shares our vision to make the world a better place to live by identifying local, sustainable solutions to complex problems” noted David Colvin, the outgoing President and CEO.
“IBI is a small firm with large firm capabilities”, said Mr. Wall. “I am excited for this opportunity to lead this team of very capable, hard-working, and dedicated development professionals”.
