Client: USAID under subcontract to Nathan Associates

Year Completed: Ongoing

Launched in 2013, US-Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Technical Assistance to Advance Regional Integration (US-ATAARI) is a five-year project to strengthen the capacity of the APEC Secretariat and APEC’s foreign-assistance eligible developing member economies.  It advances economic integration to achieve the Bogor Goals of free and open trade and increased investment in the region.  US-ATAARI builds upon past assistance provided by the U.S. Government to assist APEC in achieving its policy objectives. It delivers technical assistance, ranging from policy studies and assessments to capacity building, training, and expert advice on integration, trade liberalization and institutional management.

IBI provides technical assistance, training materials, planning, organizational and other resources to reinforce and enhance APEC capacity to make progress in the areas of trade and investment liberalization, business facilitation, and economic and technical cooperation.  To improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the APEC Secretariat, IBI worked with APEC Secretariat staffing units, the Executive Office, and the Corporate Directors to conduct mapping exercises of internal and external processes.  The mapping exercises included an assessment of efficiencies and opportunities to harmonize APEC Secretariat procedures across units, staff, and stakeholders.
